Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique – Is it worth it?

As you walk around the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World there are little girls around the park dressed as their favourite princesses and then a few extra’s catch your eye and if you have your own little girl with you there will be the call out “Mummy I want to be a Princess too”…

Legoland Florida – what you need to know

Hearing that we were heading to Florida this summer J’s first request that we head to Legoland especially for his birthday – he turned 6 and a lot of his friends and his cousin had all been to Legoland for their 6th birthday’s this year so we got our tickets and planned for a day…

Walt Disney World Dates to Know

We’re heading off on our first long haul vacation this summer to Florida – and we will be visiting Walt Disney World Resort and the theme parks although staying off-site. It’s not mine and my husband’s first trip in fact we both went in our teens 1991 with our parents, then again as a couple…

From Our Travels

If you look back at my feed on @travelledsofar you can see some shots of the fabulous RSPB Titchwell and seeing the seals. . I don't have a telescopic lens on my camera just a 70 - 300mm but this was taken on my Olympus Tough from the shore with the Common Seal pup swimming in front of me. . Getting kids to see animals like this in the wild whether in the UK or abroad will always feature in our family trips. . . . #norfolkcoast #britishwildlife #worldschooling #seal #commonseal #harbourseal #wildlifetravel #nature #marinemammal #marinelife #mcs #britishmarinelife #wildlifewatching As well as birdwatching at Titchwell there is a little known secret a walk down the beach across a creek and you discover a budding marine biologists dream. . The harbour seal or common seal use a little estuary as a safe harbour in the summer months to have their pups and by August these pups are left during the day to play in the safety of the water whilst the mother seal ventures off to fish for them both. . For the last 3 years before school starts we have taken a walk up to here and observed the seals this year there were 9 playing in the water directly in front of us. . North Norfolk has one of the largest populations of these beautiful animals in Europe and although it's a little more difficult to see them than the sea lions in San Fransisco or San Diego you can take the walk or much further along the coast there is Blackney Point where you can pay to take a boat out to the sand bars where they spend the summer to. . I've done both and the walk along the beach puts you much closer contact and easier to see than the boat ride and is much cheaper as at the RSPB Titchwell you just pay for the parking. . . . #titchwell #ilovenature #rspb #norfolkcoast #britishwildlife #seals #commonseal #sealwatching #norfolkbeaches #rspbtitchwell #brancaster #brancasterbeach #harbourseals #norfolklife #britishwildlife #UKwildlife #wildlifeexplorers #raisingawildchild #bornwild #familynatureclub #worldschooling #roadschooling As well as the beaches North Norfolk has some of the best areas for wildlife spotting in the UK. The county is undeveloped thanks to Lord Leicester and his love of country sports which means that wildlife can be found everywhere. . The RSPB reserve at Titchwell was my favourite growing up - it's changed drastically over the last few years thanks to the storm surge that wipped out the dunes but the 3 different lakes still exist and with them and the marshes there are hundreds of birds to see. . My kids have their own junior binoculars and are well on their way to learning about the natural world. . . . #naturestudy #rspb #titchwell #rspbtitchwell #birdwatching #kidsandnature #raisingawildchild #wildlifeexplorers #kidsbirdwatching #freenatureactivities #ilovenature #wildandfree #childhoodunplugged #clickmom #tiedye #norfolk #northnorfolk #norfolkcoast #naturereserve #england #visitengland #britishwildlife Travelling with kids is very different at times than the years that I spent backpacking. Although I would try and fit in a relaxing day if I couldn't it wouldn't be such a big deal but when you have kids they need down time. . Downtime for us is always active time but more relaxed than our average travel day. It could be a day spent at the water park or a day at the pool. In the case of our camping trip it was two days at the beach. . Gone are the days of laying back and reading a book instead I was chased around the beach by this one with a bucket full of cold North Sea water that was thrown and tipped over me repeatedly. . Ohhh and check out how empty the beach is - this was mid-afternoon as the busiest it got all day. . . #northnorfolk #classichildhood #naturestudy #freenatureactivities #norfolkcoast #holme #beachdays #beachlife #norfolklife #holmenwt #norfolkcoast #beach #norfolkbeaches #outdooradevntures #outdoorfamilies #bornwild #bornwildchild #iwasbornwild #raiseawildchild #outdoorfun #explorerkids The beach in Norfolk starts around Heacham and continues around all the way to Wells. I'm guessing it's around 20 miles as I've only driven the distance. But apart from a couple of creeks that you come in land to cross or brave the depths this is what you get. . The towns of Heacham and Hunstanton can get crowded in the summer especially on a sunny day or Bank Holiday weekend however a short drive up the coastal road and you get to beaches like this. . This was Holme Beach at the Norfolk Wildlife Trust end at it's busiest all day. With just a £5 parking fee and a small coffee shop with takeaway coffee so you can take it to the beach and delicious cakes it was fantastic. The kids loved playing in the sea, building sand castles and flying our kite. . . . #northnorfolk #classichildhood #naturestudy #freenatureactivities #norfolkcoast #holme #beachdays #beachlife #norfolklife #holmenwt #norfolkcoast #beach #norfolkbeaches #outdooradevntures #outdoorfamilies #bornwild #bornwildchild #iwasbornwild #raiseawildchild #outdoorfun There aren't many trips we go on that our dog can join us. Camping is the one that she comes along as well as the kids. . Although not all campsites in the UK are dog friendly most welcome dogs on a lead - in our case on a lead and tent peg and you really get to see a different side of the country with a dog. . The @campandcaravan club site lists all of the sites with facilities and whether they are dog friendly or not and the Club sites like the one we have been staying at in Sandringham welcome both members and non-members to stay. . . . #camping #campingtrip #campinglife #campsite #tent #campinglifestyle #campingwithdogs #dogsonadventure #campingwithkids #outdoorfamilies #bornwild #bornwildchild #getoutdoors #outdooradventures #iwasbornwild #raiseawildchild #gooustideandplay #kidsinnature #outdoorfun #iloveoutdoor #naturewalk #outsideisthebestside #campingkids #campingfamily #campingandcaravanclub #sandringhamestate Well I think it's safe to say we have found Nemo. . Many years ago (20 if we want to be exact) I had my first job in Marine Biology. I worked as an aquarist at Hunstanton Sea Life Centre in Norfolk for the summer before heading off to start my degree. I love returning now with the kids. . Things have changed - but so much has stayed the same as well including some of the staff. These viewing bubbles are relatively new though and the kids loved being in Nemo's world. . . . #sealifecentre #hunstanton #norfolk #seenorfolk #visitnorfolk #visithunstanton #hunstantonsealifecentre #findingnemo #nemo #aquarium #kidrated #daysoutUK #England #sunnyhunny #visitengland #northnorfolk #mblogger #tblogger #pblogger #lblogger Have you ever been beach combing? We met up with a professional beach comber and spent almost an hour exploring the strand line discovering natural and some less than natural find brought in by the sea. . The kids loved discovering things like this inside of a whelk shell, as well as how sea glass is made and their favourite the story about Hag Stones - those stones that have a hole worn all the through them. . I've discovered that people like Kate from Beach Bonkers are located around the country and more than happy for a donation to take you and your kids on an explore of the beach to learn more. . . . #beachcoming #getoutside #familynatureclub #wildandfree #beachcombers #beachfinds #familynatureclub #beachstudy #worldschooling #roadschooling #naturestudy #felixstowe #suffolk #suffolkcoast #visitsuffolk #england #visitengland #englishcoast #coast #beachactivities Norfolk has big skies and on a clear night when it's a waxing gibbous moon with the right equipment you can get images like this. Thanks to @adw_images for letting us share. . . . #moon #moonshot #Norfolk #waxingmoon #visitnorfolk #staycation #waxinggibbous #waxinggibbousmoon #waxingmoonphase #moonphoto #moonphotography #lookingup #skyatnight There is something so British about a day at the sea side. Combine with beach huts and sand castle building and you are set. If the sun comes out it's a real bonus. . We are fortunate to live in East Anglia - with a coastline that features old Victorian sea side towns like Felixstowe and Hunstanton to wild beaches where scenes from many movies are filmed. . What came as a surprise even though I have lived here all my life is that you can actually rent a beach hut for the day. It makes a trip to the beach a lot less sandy and can explore the area as well without having to take everything back to the car and out again when you return. . . . #beachhuts #suffolk #visitsuffolk #felixstowe #visitfelixstowe #eastanglia #beach #seaside #beachday #england #visitengland #suffolkcoast #thesuffolkcoast #igkids #instakids #childhoodunplugged How I wish we could travel to far flung places all the time, but at the moment it's just not possible maybe in the future but until then we are content to make the most of the every day trips as well. Today my eldest turned 7, and his choice of a birthday party was to take his best friend and sister to Colchester Zoo for the day. . After walking MILES around the zoo up and down hills it's the new experiences and the first's that still get me. Despite visiting this regularly my kids have NEVER wanted to enter the discovery centre let alone get close to any of the creatures. Today for the first time - we touched and held them. . No screams were heard and we have been asked whether we could increase our pets at home to include some more exotic animals. . . . #daysoutuk #colchesterzoo #zoo #stickinsect #newexperience #insect #worldschooling #roadschooling #homeschooling #homeed #familynatureclub #naturestudy #colchester #essex #visitessex #england #visitengland #handsonlearning #handsonzoo #bugs Saint Moritz is such an iconic town. It's know for the winter atmosphere and the visitors. But, in the summer you see a different side to it. . Some of the ski lifts still work and instead of people carrying ski's up to the slopes passengers carry bikes and walking boots. . This is the view from one of those lift - that lake in the winter is covered in ice and there are ice fayre's on the lake for the residents and visitors to enjoy.
