In 2011 when my kids were very young I started my site Rainy Day Mum, a season of my life where rainy days meant that there was a challenge that needed to be met and I knew that I wasn’t alone. With a newborn and a toddler we could enjoy summer days outside but what one earth could you do at home with children that age when it rained all day as it did in the UK most of that first summer as a mum of two. At first I shared just our rainy day activities but then it was activities and crafts that we did anyhow and soon recipes, parenting tips and more added and now we share a little insight into our family travels.
But as a family we’ve travelled so far already, got places to go to and places we are at the moment. Sharing tips for backpacking as a solo female around Egypt doesn’t fit Rainy Day Mum, and although some of our family trips near and far may interest the readers of Rainy Day Mum, they won’t be interested in the best campsites for visiting the Suffolk coast or best ways to travel around Costa Rica solo. So Travelled So Far was born – a site where we can share our tips for travel from places we’ve already been – to places we are visiting – to our dreams and destinations for the future.
As we travel we are also keeping in touch with our family sharing our journals – those of me Cerys, Dad – Jeremy and the two kids J and T. As we go pop over to the Journals section of our site to discover the latest entries from the family and individual members. Not Pinterest ready – written from the iPad, laptop or phone as we travel or when we return home based on our memories, photos and thought as we travel.
We’re based in the UK – a family of 4, I’m Cerys a former Marine Biologist, teacher and now a professional blogger, Dad is Jeremy – an IT Geek, J was born in 2009 as at the time of writing this wants to be a jungle explorer somewhere in South America and T born in 2011 wants to be a princess most of the time but drive really fast cars at the weekend (F1 driver!) and wear pretty dresses. As a family, we travelled so far to Kefalonia in Greece, Lanzarote and Mallorca as well in the UK and this year we go Trans-Atlantic and head to Florida. Solo, we’ve visited many interesting and diverse places you just have to wait and find out some of our travelled so far stories and tips as well as keep up with our latest destinations, tips and advice as well as what we travel with and our favourite products.
